Stop scalding with TMR mix!

As soon as the temperature rises, the beautifully mixed ration at the feed fence will also heat up faster. The direct cause of this scalding is the excessive development of fungi, yeasts and bacteria. The adverse consequences of this:
  • Loss of nutritional value and dry matter percentage
  • Reduced palatability of feed intake

Scalding is often accompanied by moments when the cows also experience heat stress. As a result, the cows will in any case already take up less feed, which in combination with the above effects can clearly have adverse effects on milk production (and more).

It is a shame to see all those pits, where so much effort has been put in, lose their value in such a short time. Fortunately, this can be countered. In the summer, for example, it can be an added value to feed once more than in winter, so that the feed at the feed fence remains fresher = cooler = less scalding. But the scalding itself can also be prevented.

Acidification of the mixed feed with organic acids prevents the growth of mold, yeast and bacteria. This is the same principle as the natural silage process. A more acidic ration therefore stays fresh and tasty for longer and does not lose any nutritional value!

Not all organic acids are equally effective against all organisms. By making a good combination of different acids, a large spectrum of action can be achieved and the acids can even work synergistically! The 'TMR mix' from Bivit is an optimal combination of sorbic, propionic and benzoic acid and keeps your mixed ration fresh at warm times, at a dose of 50 to 100 grams per animal per day, depending on the circumstances (temperature, humidity and desired storage time).

The "TMR mix" is a dry product and has the additional advantages over liquid acids that it is less irritating and will not foam.
  • The advantages of "TMR mix" at a glance:
    • Keeps the mixed ration fresh and tasty
    • No loss of nutritional value and dry matter
    • No loss of palatability and feed intake
    • Easy to use
